On September 19, 2018, the opening ceremony of Zhejiang Wanli College's 2018 freshmen class was held in the playground of Basic College. 250 students from Sino-German College of Design and Communication gathered in the athletic field to welcome the new academic year. Zhejiang Wanli College Honorary President and Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences Shi Zhongci, Chairman of Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, Secretary of the Party Committee, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Zhejiang Wanli College Ying Xiong, President of Zhejiang Wanli College Ying Min and leaders of the group, members of the school leadership team, deans and secretaries of the second-level colleges attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Jiang Jianjun, secretary of the Party Committee.
At the ceremony, President Ying Min delivered a speech, expressing his warm welcome and sincere blessings to the arrival of the new students of the class of 2018. He introduced the basic situation of the school to the students and encouraged them to fully carry forward the spirit of contemporary college students, not forgetting the original intention and forging ahead. President Ying Min emphasized, "Students come to Wanli from hundreds of miles and thousands of miles, moreover, they should remember the spirit of Wanli - 'As long as there is the hope of 1%, we should do our best to 100%.'
On the day of the ceremony, all the freshmen of Sino-German College of Design and Communication showed their tenacity under the scorching sun in their college uniforms. Secretary Ding Yajun and the class teachers of each class were extremely proud of their students' performance. Lu Hao, a student, said, "Focusing on study and exercising at the same time, I don't want to have a colorful youth, but I want to have some embellishment, and I hope that I won't regret when I look back on my college life later!"
