In order to pass on traditional culture and let more people know about our festival, the community organized a unique activity for students in the afternoon of June 8 at the International Students' Dining Hall - wrapping zongzi!

First, then, the following basic ingredients should be prepared:

Rice dumpling leaves: also known as Ruo leaves, so that the steamed rice dumplings are fragrant and fragrant ~

Glutinous rice: I've heard that rice for dumplings has a big time process before it's wrapped! Drain time is 30 minutes and soak time is 40 minutes. The glutinous rice soaked in this way is white and lustrous, with the unique aroma of rice dumplings, moderate viscosity in taste, and fine but not rotten.

As well as also preparing various fillings: cured meat, salted egg yolks, dried dates and bean paste, etc.

Then, it was finally time to show off their skills, students from Sino-German College started to teach international students of different nationalities how to wrap dumplings! What will it be like when traditional culture meets different nationalities?

In the process, the Chinese and German students enthusiastically sat at the round table and chattered to the international students about the history of dumplings.

According to legend, on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar in 278 B.C., Qu Yuan, a great scholar of the state of Chu, threw himself into the Miluo River and died. The people went to the river to pay their respects, throwing rice balls and eggs into the river, saying that the fish, dragons, shrimps and crabs would not bite Qu Yuan's body when they had enough. People followed suit after seeing this. An old physician brought a jar of Xiong Huang wine poured into the river, said to drug stunned dragon water beast, so as not to hurt Qu Dafu. Later, for fear of rice balls eaten by the dragon, people came up with neem leaves wrapped in rice, wrapped in colored silk outside, developed into dumplings. "I am also the good of my heart, although nine deaths its still not regret." It is this kind of family sentiment that has made Qu Yuan long remembered.
