C.D.C. School of Design and Communication Class of 2019 "2+2" Advertising Program has received offers from University College London and University of Sydney

My university goal has always been clear - from the beginning of my freshman year, I had a clear goal of "2+2" to go abroad and then apply for graduate school overseas. In the course of my university studies, I worked hard to finish every class, participated in competitions and academic activities, and tried to improve my foreign language skills. The progress I made made me a "better" version of myself.

University College London (UCL) was my dream institution to apply for graduate school. After I found out that I was accepted by UCL, I had a feeling that my dream had come true. The excitement was inevitable and I hope my family, college and school are proud of me too.

During my two years of study in Hamburg, my English and intercultural skills improved by leaps and bounds. With the support of my project proposal experience and speaking skills, interviews for higher education became a matter of course for me. I also gained a lot of knowledge and experience from the international, application-oriented program at the German Brand University of Applied Sciences, which is the most suitable path for me.

Offers from University of Manchester, University of Bristol, University of Glasgow

The "2+2" study model of our college gives me a big advantage when applying for graduate school. When considering admissions to prestigious foreign universities and majors, they will look at the applicant's "origin" - what university and major he or she studied in China, whether he or she has cross-cultural learning experience, etc. If the conditions are not met, he or she will be "stuck on the list If the applicant does not meet the requirements, he or she will be "stuck on the list", that is, not admitted. I was able to get a bachelor's degree from a foreign university and bypass the "list barrier" perfectly by studying abroad for 2 years.

Of course, "2+2" students need to submit the results of their two years of study at home and the results of their first year of study abroad when they apply to their target institutions for graduate school. Therefore, the "battle" actually starts from the freshman year, and early preparation will give you more chances.

The first thing you need to do is to do your homework in advance, assess your ability to match your preferred school and major, and keep moving closer to the academic and practical ability standards of your "dream school". I have been waiting for a long time for my offer from the University of Manchester, and I was very excited when I received it.

Offers from University of Manchester, University of Glasgow, University of Leeds

I am grateful to the "2+2" teaching model for giving me the opportunity to study in the UK in advance. The intercultural learning mode tends to cultivate the ability to study and think independently, and to develop the habit of thinking and completing tasks on my own initiative. This year's experience of studying and living abroad has helped me to become more independent and autonomous. Students should cherish the "2+2" study opportunity, which will help us adapt to the study mode and life of overseas graduate schools in advance, and also play a great role in the language and curriculum connection.

The process of getting an offer from a world-renowned university was full of hardships and twists and turns. IELTS was a difficult task for me as I did not have a good foundation in English at that time. I took advantage of the natural language environment to improve my English listening, speaking, reading and writing after I arrived in the UK, and obtained a more satisfactory result. I changed my major and entered the Sino-German College. I was a bit uncomfortable with the English-taught major courses at the beginning, but thanks to the encouragement and guidance from my classmates and teachers, I slowly got on the right track and my GPA increased steadily every semester.

In the process of studying in the UK, I asked my seniors in the previous year for their tips on high scores and tried to keep my UK grades around 70 (equivalent to 90 in my domestic university exams). In addition to my studies, I also challenged myself to apply for internships in local companies in the UK, and all these experiences helped me a lot to get an offer from UMass.

Chen Ke

Sino-German College of Design and Communication 2019 "2+2" major in Exhibition Economics and Management
Received offers from the University of Southampton and the University of Nottingham Ningbo

I set my goal of applying to graduate school in my junior year, so I focused more on my GPA and internships. A higher GPA would help me stand out from the crowd, and a stronger internship background would help me make up for my weaker professional background. Through my efforts, I earned the top GPA in my major during my junior year and also gained ample internship experience at the Huzhou Teacher Continuing Education Center, which helped me get an offer in the end.

For example, when I interviewed with my postgraduate supervisor at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, she praised me for my excellent communication skills, thanks to the four years of English teaching classes at the university, the intercultural communication courses and the interdisciplinary program. All these international courses have greatly enhanced my cross-cultural communication skills and enabled me to confidently present myself to the interviewer in English.

My experience in group studies has enriched my personal resume and made my mind more mature, among which my volunteer experience has increased the thickness of my resume. Foreign institutions focus on the all-round development ability of students, which makes the interviewer's impression of me more three-dimensional.

Offers from University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, University of Leeds, Monash University, Loughborough University

Think in peace, think in preparation. These are the words I have been reminding myself for four years in college. I am a person with a strong sense of purpose and planning, and I decided to apply to art graduate schools abroad in my freshman year. I decided to apply to art graduate schools in my freshman year. I needed a portfolio, which requires long-term accumulation, and I made a two-year-long plan for myself to apply to graduate schools - the GPA I needed to achieve each semester, the competitions I needed to participate in, the honors I needed to get, and the works I needed to accumulate.

When I encountered difficulties in my project, I discussed with my teachers and foreign teachers, who would give me very much creative inspiration and design guidance. There are many subject competitions arranged in the professional course of Visual Communication Design, such as ONESHOW CHINA, D&AD, China Packaging Design Competition, National University Exhibition Creative Competition, etc.. Therefore, we don't need to prepare for the award-winning works in the portfolio, just complete the class assignments carefully, the college has planned for us.
