The micro-video "Engraving Time", produced by Yan Qilu, Zhou Chenxi and other three students from Grade 22 of the Advertising (Sino-German 2+2 Dual Degree) major of the Sino-German Branding Department, with Lin Chen, a teacher of the department, as the instructor, records the stories behind intangible cultural heritages such as Ningbo's Tiger's Head Shoes and Nailed Bowls through delicate footage and vivid editing, and demonstrates the unique charm of traditional skills and artisan spirit.
"Traditional Chinese culture has always been an important part of China's foreign presentation. As Sino-German, we know that we should be committed to the dissemination of Chinese culture and image building in cross-cultural communication while mastering the knowledge of branding. Therefore, we have always harbored a strong interest in exploring China's outstanding traditional culture. In our freshman Civics class, our teacher asked us to make a micro-video on the theme of 'Me and the 20th National Congress'. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in the report of the 20th Party Congress that he 'inherited the excellent traditional Chinese culture'. This profoundly elucidates our party's position and attitude towards traditional culture, centrally embodies the distinctive cultural outlook of contemporary Chinese communists, and points out the sure way to maintain the vitality of Chinese culture. As university students, we should actively study and explore the excellent traditional Chinese culture, dig deep into its intrinsic value, and actively show it to the outside world to tell a good Chinese story.
"After researching, we focused our attention on the'Yinzhou non-heritage museum', as well as on those skilled Ningbo craftsmen.tiger shoesbetween the stitches, as if weaving a thousand years of blessings and prayers;maltsterThe skillful hands of the artist speak of the art of restoration and the wisdom of life. Although we were still young in terms of professional skills and photography techniques, our respect and curiosity for traditional culture drove us to keep exploring deeper and deeper." Yan Qilu, a member of the production team, said.
With the deeper understanding, Yan Qilu and the other three students felt more and more the heavy history and deep emotion behind the non-legacy skills. One year later, they saw the notice to participate in the 7th National University Students' Network Culture Festival, and decided to revive those precious materials and polish the film again with more mature technology and perspective. At the same time, they also invited Mr. Lin Chen as their instructor. The improved editing skills and rearranged dubbing text made the picture more vivid and the sound more touching, so that the beauty of non-heritage could be shown on the screen and in front of more people.
However, the road to creation is never easy. The lack of equipment, handheld lens defocus ...... every step was full of challenges. In addition, the implantation of humanistic feelings in the work has also made team members agonize for a long time. Unlike feature films, which convey the idea behind the story through background padding and character personality display, micro-documentaries mostly need to touch humanistic feelings in an objective perspective. As first-time documentary creators, the team members had difficulty grasping the emotional intensity of the work. During the rough-cutting stage, the team often felt that the work lacked "fireworks" and the theme seemed hollow, making it difficult to trigger the audience's emotional resonance. After discussion, the team members decided to solve this problem with"Reduce frame cropping and keep the flow as smooth as possible."To maximize the possibility of showing the authenticity of the picture, so that the audience has a more practical experience, so as to perceive the "fireworks" of the film.
In order to minimize the impact of unprofessional shooting equipment, the team members used the surrounding tables, chairs and elbow supports to improve the stability of the shoot. In order to ensure the clarity of the video, they tried to avoid shooting complex scenes and chose simple scenes with clear layers to enhance the texture of the picture and reduce the cropping of the picture in post editing. At the same time, in order to avoid the fatigue caused by holding the lens for a long time, which affects the stability of the lens, the team members took the way of relay shooting and collaborated to complete the shooting task. After countless attempts and adjustments, they gradually found the correct direction of photography and creation.
The selection of Engraving Time as an Outstanding Finalist not only recognizes the efforts of the three scholars, but also theThe best interpretation of the Department's emphasis on the inheritance of traditional Chinese culture and encouragement of innovation and practice. "We know that behind this honor is the perseverance and dedication of countless non-heritage bearers, their love for culture and their persistence in passing it on. Therefore, we are more willing to pass on this power, so that more people understand the non-heritage, love the non-heritage and inherit the non-heritage." Team member Zhou Chenxi said.
