On September 30, 2022, the ceremony of awarding the "Camellia Friendship Envoy" of Ningbo City was held. Prof. Stefan Waller, the international academic director of our institute, together with 11 other foreign experts, took the stage and received the honorary certificate from Tang Feifan, the deputy secretary of Ningbo Municipal Party Committee and mayor. The "Camellia Friendship Envoy" is the highest honor awarded to foreign experts by Ningbo City, and Prof. Waller is alsoThe only foreign teacher in Ningbo University to receive this award.
Camellia is the city flower of Ningbo, the "Camellia Award" and "Camellia Friendship Messenger" honorary title is awarded in recognition of outstanding foreign experts in various fields for their outstanding contributions to the economic construction and social development of Ningbo, since 1996, has a history of 23 years.
At the award ceremony, Prof. Stefan Waller, as the only representative of the 12 award-winning experts, delivered a speech. With "friendship" as the theme of his speech, he cited the triple insights of Aristotle, the famous ancient Greek philosopher, on friendship, and dialectically reflected on the theory of "seeking oneself" by Wang Yangming, a local thinker in Ningbo, and interpreted the meaning of the honor of "Camellia Friendship Ambassador" from a cross-cultural perspective. Professor Waller said, "Ningbo shares many similarities with my home city of Hamburg, Germany. Both cities are famous as port cities that serve as a window to the world. I am honored to receive the honor of Camellia Friendship Messenger, and I am very happy to serve the development of Ningbo's city and enterprises in the areas of international brand talent training, brand promotion and brand research.
Prof. Stefan Waller holds a PhD in Cultural Philosophy from the University of Hamburg and has been teaching and conducting research at the University of Hamburg, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and the German University of Branding and Applied Sciences for nearly 20 years. Since he was introduced to the university in 2019 as a high-end international talent in branding discipline, Prof. Waller has been the international academic director of our Sino-German joint training dual degree program, focusing on the teaching and research work of international interdisciplinary majors related to intercultural branding, continuously introducing German quality education and resources to the university, "attracting foreigners to help domestic He will continue to introduce high quality German education and resources to the university, "attracting foreign students to help domestic students", and lend his efforts to the rapid improvement and development of the university's brand disciplines and related majors.
During his time in Ningbo, he has taught nearly 800 hours of undergraduate courses, benefiting more than 600 students in visual communication design, advertising, and exhibition economics and management. He has actively compiled and summarized the course results, and his course "Brand Management Fundamentals" has been recognized as a first-class internationalized undergraduate course by the Zhejiang Provincial Education Department, and participated in the construction of the provincial internationalized first-class undergraduate course "Chinese Culture and Brand Design". He has borrowed the "dual system" teaching model from the German University of Applied Sciences and actively introduced famous German enterprises' topics and projects to promote the integration of industry and education in our college.
Prof. Stefan Waller has also done a lot of work in promoting academic and industrial exchanges in the field of brand building in Ningbo. He participated in two international forums of "German-Chinese Brand Dialogue" in Hamburg, Germany and the first "Sino-German Brand Innovation Forum" in Ningbo, where more than 1,000 experts from universities and industries participated, playing an important role in the communication and exchange between Ningbo and European academia and industry in the field of brand building. After the awarding ceremony, Prof. Stefan Waller said he valued the high recognition of his work from Ningbo government and would be more active in introducing the teaching system of German universities of applied sciences and high-quality resources from universities and industrial enterprises to promote the development and practice of branding in China and to contribute to the continuous construction of "brand capital" in Ningbo.
