Speaker Bio.
Dr. Sandra Groll, a faculty member of the Department of Brand Design at the University of Branding and Applied Sciences, Germany, and a doctor of design at the Offenbach School of Design, Germany, has long been committed to the research and practice of design and creativity theory and talent cultivation, and has taught at the Offenbach School of Design, the University of the Arts in Kassel, and other renowned German design colleges and universities.Dr. Groll is a fruitful academic achievement, and has already published more than 20 academic papers and monographs. Dr. Groll has published more than 20 academic papers and monographs, organized and participated in more than 30 international academic forums in the field of design. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Council for Research in Design (BIRD) and a contributor to the annual report of the iF Design Foundation in Germany. She also has extensive experience in the branding and design industry, and has worked as an independent designer in product and interior design.
Lecture content:
The world at the beginning of the twenty-first century is complex. New tasks, transformation processes and new challenges encounter structures and professions that have not yet adapted to the challenges of a complex ecology and are only just beginning to develop applicable concepts, forms of action and methods. This change is also occurring in the field of design, from architecture to product and communication design, from branding to service and system design, the many forms of design shape not only our everyday life but also the shape of that everyday life. The human-centered approach to design provides us with forward-thinking models and applicable design methods. In the next phase, design is going to have to go deeper and designers should adopt a more holistic approach, placing systems, infrastructures, and above all ecology together with the individual - be it the user or the consumer - at the center of design.
